Potential energy saving per year using the same 10,000-cycle benchmark.
Average Air+ cycle, compared with 428 seconds for the washer average.
Medical pulp is disposed of after use instead of being cleaned and recirculated.
The reason to switch
Why choose a macerator over a bedpan washer?
A washer cleans the same receptacle for reuse. Vortex Air+ processes the single-use pulp receptacle and its contents together—reducing rehandling, cycle time and utility demand.
Uses 11.3 litres less water and about 91% less energy per cycle than the supplied average-washer benchmark.
A 120-second average cycle versus 428 seconds for the average bedpan washer—over five minutes faster.
No unloading, inspection and return-to-use stage for a reusable bedpan after the disposal cycle.
Vernacare specifies four pulp items. Follow the manufacturer’s loading and compatible-product guidance.
The same receptacle returns to circulation.

We confirm the machine, site requirements and full scope in a written quotation before you order.
Tell us about your site
Share your postcode, current equipment and the number of machines you need. Add your preferred timing if you have one.
Confirm the requirements
Review access, water, drainage and electrical requirements using the manufacturer’s installation guide. Your quotation confirms the installation scope and any separately priced works.
Agree the installation
Review your written quote, availability and installation arrangements before ordering. Standard delivery and installation are included.
What does free installation include?
The quoted machine price includes standard delivery and installation. Your written quotation confirms the exact scope. Building alterations, drainage changes and electrical enabling works are excluded and agreed separately.
How soon can the machine be installed?
Availability and an installation date are confirmed for your site before you order. This is installed equipment; the website’s standard parcel dispatch times do not apply. Include your preferred date or any urgent replacement requirement in your enquiry.
What warranty and servicing are available?
Ask for the applicable manufacturer warranty, commissioning requirements and servicing options with your quotation. We confirm the relevant terms for the machine and installation before you commit; ongoing servicing is not included in the utility calculator.
Can you help us compare whole-life costs?
Yes. Tell us your current washer model, usage and utility rates. The calculator is a starting point; a site-specific comparison should also account for pulp consumables, servicing and any enabling works.
Interactive cost calculator
Estimate your site’s utility savings.
Choose your washer, confirm how often it runs, then enter the rates from your latest utility bill. If you do not know a figure, keep the example value.
Estimated result for 1 machine
Water cost saving = litres saved ÷ 1,000 × your combined water and wastewater rates. Energy cost saving = kWh saved × your electricity rate. Uses the supplied manufacturer benchmark consumption figures with the same annual cycle count for each machine; it does not adjust for different loading capacities. Negative savings are retained when the selected washer uses less. Machine cycle time is not staff time or a labour-cost saving. Rates should be entered excluding VAT. This is an indicative utility comparison, not a guaranteed whole-life-cost assessment.

Fewer touchpoints between use and disposal.
Single-use pulp removes the need to clean and recirculate reusable bedpans. The Air+ adds hands-free loading, a sealed disposal cycle and immediate processing.
Touchless operation reduces the number of potentially contaminated controls staff need to handle.
The inflatable lid seal is designed to prevent aerosolisation of potentially harmful pathogens.
Immediate disposal reduces the need for manual cleaning of contaminated reusable receptacles and the handling that involves.
SmartFlow’s closed-drum system fully breaks down waste before releasing it to the wastewater system.
